Tips to Save a Tooth That is Knocked Out

How To Make Your Own Mouthwash Using Natural Ingredients

Cleansing your mouth with mouthwash is an essential step in any oral care regimen. However, there are times you might run out of mouthwash in your home. If you do not have to time or money to go to the store to purchase mouthwash, or if you like to try natural products, then you may want to consider making your own mouthwash at home. Here are some recipes you can try in order to save money and cleanse your mouth naturally.

Baking Soda And Essential Oils Mouthwash

This recipe combines the powerful cleaning power of baking soda with the antiseptic properties of tea tree oil. Peppermint oil is also used in this recipe to leave your mouth feeling fresh. Here is how you should combine the ingredients to make the mouthwash:

  1. Pour half a cup of distilled or bottled water into a container.
  2. Add two teaspoons of baking soda to the mixture.
  3. Add two drops of tea tree oil to the container.
  4. Pour two drops of peppermint oil into the mouthwash.
  5. Shake the mixture well.

You should use at least three teaspoons of this mouthwash to gargle at least twice daily. Remember to always shake the mixture before you use it, since the baking soda will settle at the bottom when the mouthwash is not in use.

Cinnamon, Baking Soda And Honey Mouthwash

Cinnamon destroys bacteria which can cause bad breath, combining it with the anti-bacterial properties of honey and baking soda creates a powerful antiseptic mouthwash. Here is the recipe for the mouthwash.

  1. Get a half teaspoon of cinnamon and pour it into a bottlenecked jar.
  2. Pour two teaspoons of honey into the jar.
  3. Add a teaspoon of baking soda.
  4. Warm a cup of water and pour it onto the mixture to melt the honey.
  5. Add the juice of two lemons to the mixture. This will give the mouthwash a citrus flavor and add even more anti-bacterial power to the mixture.
  6. Shake the mixture well.

When you are ready to use it, you should shake the mixture well and use at least two tablespoons of it to swish or gargle in your mouth for at least one minute.

Natural mouthwashes that you create at home are free of harmful chemicals which are often found in store bought mouthwash. Natural mouthwashes are also very good at destroying bacteria in the mouth. This makes them powerful for preventing and treating bad breath.

About Me

Tips to Save a Tooth That is Knocked Out

I love horses, and my family has kept them for years. One day, I was getting onto the saddle of my favorite horse, and I had a bad accident. My foot slipped as I was getting on her, and I fell. Thankfully, I didn't suffer any major injuries other than a tooth that was knocked out of my mouth. I had a great friend who helped me save it. She rinsed the tooth off in milk, and she had me hold it in my mouth after that until we arrived at the emergency dentist. He was able to stick it right back in! He placed a temporary splint in my mouth to keep the tooth in place until it healed. I am happy to say my tooth is perfect now! I created this blog let others know they can save a tooth that is knocked out if they act fast!
